According to the BethBlog American gaming magazine GamePro has an article on 2008 Best Shooters (yes, shooters) and Fallout 3 is one of the games featured there.
Vice-president for Public Relations at Bethesda Softworks Pete Hines had this to say about the dubious honor:
GamePro has an article on 2008 Top Shooters which includes Fallout 3. But, fear not, because they have a little icon indicating we have an “RPG Twist”. So that ought to set everything right and calm those who would otherwise lose their **** over these types of things.
Eheheheheh, this is funny as ****.
Meh, I think we’re used to this nonsense by now.
The question is why Bethesda keeps shovelling exclusives at a bunch of tards who just shout “best FPS” or “Oblivion with Guns” at every opportunity.
Say what you want about NMA’s userbase, but when it comes to being informed and informative, you can’t really beat its articles.
Haven’t heard of gamepro before, seems that they don’t know shit about shit, or then they do – which is even more worrying. Shooterz
Gamepro has been around since what? 1989 or something? They were never a good place to get reliable information, that hasn’t changed.
Is Gamepro still a magazine or just a website now? They were the worst game magazine ever.
Still a mag, and yes, not so good.
American is the keyword here, I am from europe, and as such, I don’t follow crappy onlineversions of crappy magazines 😉
I’m in the US and I rarely read this one either.
and yeah, it’s Deus Ex with a fallout back drop. Can’t say I’m much looking forward to it. Hated Deus Ex.
Deus Ex is one of the best games, have you finished the game?
yes. hated it.
I don’t see how Deus Ex can be the best in any sense. The storyline is crap (pretty much, anyway) the choices and consequences are mild, the ambience is awesome though, that’s a nice thing, gameplay is crappy (although it’s probably because the game is old), and the character development is more an annoyance than anything else.
Deus Ex is the beginning of an era, though: the era of genre blender into the ultimate immersive reality simulation game. Which is… well, crap.
Also, Deus Ex makes me motion sick because of those indoor levels late in the game… And there are some many exploits due to the real time combat, wow… I guess Deus Ex is ok for what it is, an interesting attempt at creating something deep and interesting for FPS fans, but it really fails as a whole when you compare it with the games that it could actually mimic. Besides, I don’t see how anyone can call that an RPG. Because of the stats? Noup, that’s not genre defining. Then why? Because of the multiple ways of completing some maps and quests, or because of the different endings? I guess, but it’s so tiny…
You can like it all you like droveri, but it doesn’t change the fact that the game sucks when compared with good FPSs or good RPGs… Because Deus Ex is not a good FPS, and it’s not a good RPG either. It’s just a good genre blender hype game… thing. I mean, I like BloodRayne….
Oh, and for the record, I played the game twice (god knows why, actually) and finished it like five times, twice with the same ending.
Then I guess you didn’t really get the game. For me, it was enjoyable. I don’t really care for any details on it being FPS nor RPG nor nothing, but it was a good game. That’s enough for me, and storyline was really solid too. I also enjoyed Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, another great “blend”. Also, I don’t think they’ve ever claimed Deus Ex to be an RPG, since I don’t think there are list of things that have to be in, for the game to be an RPG. Deus Ex is good in it’s own right, I am tired of putting games/music to certain genres where that can’t be done for me it is enough for the game to be good.
Comparing to BloodRayne, priceless.
So, since I don’t like the game, then I simply didn’t *get* it? That’s illogical.
And I don’t care about the genre either, but it’s just a fact that when compared with other games, Deus Ex doesn’t excel in any part of it…
And I didn’t compare it to BloodRayne! Don’t insult me!
it took me 6 months to get through a single play through. i was never interested enough in the game to make any solid headway in any one sitting. it just wasn’t for me.
