No devs allowed to speak

A reader from this blog and longtime Fallout fan Droveri asked Ashley Cheng something important, the reply is a big let down:

Droveri: Ash, it did reveal new things, quite a few new things. Are the staff now allowed to speak of the things mentioned? OR just in a way if they had read the magazine, and comment solely basis on the article?

Ashley Cheng: Sorry, but no one should be commenting on the article or any specifics about the game. Don’t worry – by the time the game comes out, you’ll have all the information you need to decide if you want to play it or not;)

That’s silly. But in the end if you don’t make things more clear in specific issues than don’t complain that “people are twisting what we’re saying”.

  1. bah, I am beginning to sound like a broken record, but I really really don’t like being in the state of not having enough information… Esp. when revealing more info could help ease the fan base and get more constructive feed back from them. sigh…

  2. I find it very strange that they’re not able to speak about things that have been revealed already in the GI article. It seems clear to me that they wanted people to know how the combat system works for example, but since people are still somewhat confused on how it will actually play in game, then why not just update us with that info?
Like you say though, they will have to put up with people making all kinds of assumptions now, instead of discussing the actual facts.

    Disappointing.

  3. Yeah, clearing up the confusion over V.A.T.S would be correct way to act. But I guess they wan’t to keep the game under wraps, atleast until E3.
